Shisa guardian lions are found all over the islands of Okinawa, Japan’s southernmost prefecture and a beautiful subtropical archipelago. To give people in London a taste of what Okinawa has to offer as a holiday destination, I arranged workshops for guests to make their own ceramic shisa, while sipping on awamori cocktails and snacking on unique Okinawa treats, such as purple sweet potato chinsuko cookies.
